Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Business Analyst for a remote role with the Veterans Affairs department. The ideal candidate has a strong background in software development and Agile/SAFe practices, plus experience in requirements capture and ALM tools like JIRA.

You will lead requirements elaboration, coordinate with IT and leadership, manage the backlog, and ensure traceability across user stories, acceptance criteria, and tests, while mentoring junior analysts.

Qualifications

Must possess a strong background in software development and SAFe methodologies.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
Must possess excellent attention to detail, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
Past experience conducting independent research to support resolution of complex questions.
Expertise with JIRA tools and MS Office (Excel).
Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
Manage requirements in an ALM tool and perform Agile requirement management.
Analyze user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
Conduct user interviews and develop business process models and specifications.
Identify and manage risks and issues impacting project progress.
