Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Business Analyst to lead the capture and documentation of software requirements for a federal VA program. You will collaborate with users, IT, and leadership to refine user stories in an ALM tool and support Agile product development in a remote setting.

Required are strong SAFe/Agile experience, excellent communication, and deep analytical skills. The role emphasizes stakeholder collaboration, backlog management, and clear documentation throughout

Qualifications

• Extensive experience with SAFe and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong attention to detail, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience conducting independent research to support complex questions.
• Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize information from multiple sources.
• Expertise with JIRA for requirements, testing and defect management.
• Experience in large, Agile software development or data integration projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the capture of business requirements for software development teams.
• Collaborate with business users, IT, and leadership to elaborate and document requirements in an ALM tool.
• Manage requirements in an ALM tool.
• Perform Agile requirement management activities for a product team.
• Perform analysis of user needs to determine functional, cross-functional, and technical requirements.
• Conduct user interviews, lead sessions, and develop business process models and formal specifications.
• Gather and document requirements from customers, team members, stakeholders, and contractors.
• Elaborate user stories, decompose backlog items, and define acceptance criteria.
• Use ALM tools (JIRA) for requirements, testing, and defect management.
• Collect, track, and monitor system and business requirements; validate and integrate them.
• Conduct backlog refinement sessions and coordinate with Systems Engineers.
• Manage and coordinate requirements for various projects.
• Write and deliver project documents to the client.
• Identify and manage risks and issues impacting progress and outcomes.
• Develop and maintain the project backlog(s) and change control processes.
