Job summary

YA Group is seeking a Senior Biomechanist to lead forensic biomechanics work across vehicle incidents and premises liability cases in a fully remote role nationwide. The position involves expert testimony, accident reconstruction, and collaboration with forensic animators to develop visual exhibits for deposition and trial support.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, and premises liability work or similar required.
• Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering required.
• Prior deposition and courtroom testimony experience a plus.
• Experience with CAD related to accident reconstruction.
• PE license, PhD, SAE certification or ACTAR certification.
• Familiarity with automotive engineering and automotive control systems.
• Understanding of billable hours or project-based work.
• Experience collaborating with forensic animators to develop visual exhibits for deposition and trial support.
• Exposure to performing and evaluating computer simulations.
• Based in (or planning to relocate to) the job location.
• Team‑oriented with a strong passion for learning.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and measures vehicles.
• Provide expert testimony at trials, depositions, or other legal proceedings and communicates investigative findings clearly.
• Use computer models to reconstruct accidents and measure load and injury levels.
• Conduct detailed inspections of vehicles and accident sites and analyze crash sequences to identify contributing factors.
• Review documents (police reports, medical records, depositions, expert reports, legal pleadings, discovery documents, videos, photos) for reconstruction.
• Perform simulations of vehicular collisions using software such as PC-Crash.
• Evaluate the effects of impact forces on occupants.
• Determine human injury mechanisms in vehicular accidents and premises liability cases.
• Perform accident reconstructions of single-vehicle rollovers and multi-vehicle collisions.
• Utilize engineering principles to calculate speeds, collision forces, and trajectories.
