Job summary

YA Group is seeking a Senior Biomechanist to work with engineering staff on human-injury impact analysis in vehicular accidents and premises liability cases. You will reconstruct incidents, contribute to expert reports, and communicate findings to legal and technical audiences.

The role is fully remote in the United States, requiring 4+ years in biomechanics, a Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering degree, and experience with deposition/testimony, CAD, and accident reconstruction tools.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in biomechanics, accident reconstruction, and premises liability work or similar.
• Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering required.
• Prior deposition and courtroom testimony experience a plus.
• Experience with CAD related to accident reconstruction.
• PE license, PhD, SAE certification or ACTAR certification.
• Familiarity with automotive engineering and automotive control systems.
• Understanding of billable hours or project-based work.
• Experience collaborating with forensic animators to develop visual exhibits for deposition and trial support.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and measure vehicles and accident sites.
• Provide expert testimony at trials, depositions, or other legal proceedings.
• Use computer models to reconstruct accidents and measure loads and injuries.
• Conduct detailed vehicle and site inspections and analyze crash sequences.
• Review documents to identify information for reconstruction or analysis.
• Perform simulations of vehicular collisions using software such as PC-Crash.
• Evaluate effects of impact forces on occupants.
• Determine human injury mechanisms in vehicular and premises liability cases.
• Perform accident reconstructions of single-vehicle and multi-vehicle incidents.
• Calculate impact speeds, collision forces, and trajectories.
• Compare calculations with crash test reports to correlate damages.
• Review literature to advance reconstruction techniques.
• Provide written conclusions of findings for the evidence and facts.
• Take an active role in marketing YA Engineering Services to clients.
