Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. seeks a Senior BESS Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems across projects.

This fully remote role requires expertise in BESS, control strategies, and grid interconnection, with leadership responsibility across multidisciplinary teams. Responsibilities include guiding engineers, reviewing studies, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring safety, reliability, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (including Li-ion, inverters, BMS, and interconnection equipment).
• Experience with BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools (PSSE, PSCAD).
• Familiarity with codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA) and grid/regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide guidance to project teams.
• Lead and manage design/engineering of BESS projects, ensuring compliance with contracts and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies and site assessments to recommend optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with engineers of record and partners.
• Provide technical oversight during procurement, including vendor reviews and drawings.
