Job summary

Pearson is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to own end-to-end architecture and delivery of complex, scalable backend systems in a cloud-native AWS environment. You will lead the design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support while balancing modernization and reliability with new feature delivery.

You will collaborate with product, architecture, security, and operations across global teams, mentoring engineers and driving standards for code quality,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant backend systems work.
• Demonstrated technical lead or senior engineer experience on complex initiatives.
• Strong backend concepts: distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, fault tolerance, resiliency, performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, operationalization, and production support of complex software systems.
• Build scalable, reliable, secure backend services and distributed/event-driven architectures.
• Own major initiatives from discovery through delivery and production rollout.
• Balance new features with modernization, debt reduction, and reliability improvements.
• Provide technical leadership across onshore and offshore teams and drive initiatives to completion.
