Job summary

Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Retail DEX) to join the Retail DEX team and power onchain/offchain trading within the Coinbase app. You'll build systems across data, trading, and blockchain interfaces for millions of traders across Base and Solana.

Responsibilities include integrating blockchains, designing onchain primitives, and scaling real-time data pipelines to support millisecond-latency market data processing. Remote-first with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing data-intensive systems and large-scale data infra.
• Proven experience with on-chain smart contracts (EVM/Base or Solana).
• Ability to iterate on code repositories and production systems.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight.

Responsibilities

• Integrate blockchains, exchanges, and launchpads into Coinbase app.
• Design and implement first-party smart contracts for onchain trading primitives.
• Scale real-time data pipelines to 100K+ messages/sec.
• Optimize the trading stack for fastest execution and best fills.
• Drive agentic-first development patterns to speed up the team.
