Job summary

Aston Carter seeks a Senior Accounts Payable Specialist to handle complex invoice processing, subcontractor payments, and lien waiver administration in a remote-capable contract role based out of Sacramento, CA. You will ensure accurate, timely disbursements while maintaining strong vendor relationships and supporting process improvements.

The role requires 2+ years in senior or lead AP, construction-focused AP with lien waivers, and solid Excel skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of senior or lead-level accounts payable experience.
• 2+ years of construction-specific accounts payable experience with lien waivers.
• 2+ years of intermediate-level Excel experience.

Responsibilities

• Process vendor invoices and disbursements with high accuracy, verifying POs, vendor details, taxes, discounts, and coding.
• Review subcontractor invoices against POs and contracts, validating costs, retainage, and payment terms.
• Manage lien waiver and lien release processes, collecting all required documentation for payments.
• Serve as primary contact for lien waiver administration and timely payments.
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate balances, missing invoices, and discrepancies.
• Resolve complex payment delays by tracing invoices, approvals, and supporting docs.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Purchasing, and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and maintain records.
• Route invoices and docs using document management/workflow systems.
