Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a remotely-based commissioning specialist to support pre-commissioning and commissioning of utility-scale solar, battery storage, and high voltage substations. The role involves coordination with engineering, construction, and QA teams, with travel to various job sites within the United States.

The candidate will perform tests, ensure compliance with NFPA/NEC and IEEE/API standards, and document results while prioritizing safety and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV components and electrical infrastructure.
• Solid networking and communications system knowledge.
• Proactive problem-solving approach to issues.
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Excellent organizational and multi-project management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with safety protocols and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site commissioning plans and schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams to align commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests (performance, functional, reliability).
• Ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Troubleshoot issues to optimize SCADA and site communications.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports with findings and actions taken.
• Improve commissioning processes using lessons learned.
• Support safety programs and tagging/work permit compliance.
• Test and verify fiber, Ethernet, and serial communications.
• Understand NFPA/NEC, IEEE/IES/API standards and NERC guidance.
