Job summary

SOLV Energy, a leading provider of solar, storage, and high voltage substation projects, seeks a remote Commissioning Specialist with 3–5 years' experience. You will support pre-commissioning to commissioning for utility-scale solar sites, collaborating with engineering, construction, and QA teams.

Regular travel to job sites in the United States is expected. Responsibilities include testing communications systems, ensuring NFPA/NEC compliance, and delivering detailed commissioning reports.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical Drawings/ Schematics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site-specific commissioning plans and adherence to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams to align commissioning activities (engineering, construction, QA, SCADA).
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests (performance, functional, reliability) for communications systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot issues to optimize SCADA and site communications performance.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports with test results and corrective actions.
• Improve commissioning processes using lessons learned from projects.
• Assist site commissioning personnel with Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program.
• Test and commission fiber, Ethernet, and serial communications (Modbus, DNP).
• Familiarity with NFPA/NEC, IEEE/IES/API, NETA standards; understand transformer, MV/LV cabling, grounding.
