Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, delivering solar, storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

The role focuses on supporting the network and communications pre-commissioning and commissioning to ensure devices communicate properly during hot commissioning. This position is fully remote with regular travel to various job sites; location details will be discussed in interview.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical Drawings/ Schematics
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement site commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, SCADA to ensure alignment on commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including performance testing, functional testing, and reliability testing of all communications systems.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process to ensure optimal performance of SCADA and site communications systems.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports, documenting test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
• Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
• Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.
• Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United States
• Fiber installation and testing
• Ethernet installation and testing
• Serial communications installation and testing (Modbus, DNP, etc)
• SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioning
• Knowledgeable in NFPA/NEC standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.
• NETA and IEEE standards as related to utility scale solar generation, transformers, MV/LV cabling, grounding, and solar specific component testing
• Understands the commercial performance of power plants
• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and various ISO and TSO organization requirements a plus.
• Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility scale generation a plus.
• Familiarity with testing of mechanical and solid state relaying systems a plus.
