Job summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. This role focuses on network and communications pre-commissioning and commissioning for proper device communication during hot commissioning.

The position is fully remote with regular travel to various job sites across the United States, with location details discussed at interview.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in commissioning utility-scale solar projects.
• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, inverters, transformers, and electrical infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of networking and communications systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Ability to interpret Electrical and Mechanical Drawings/ Schematics
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and Implement site specific commissioning plans and adhere to schedules.
• Coordinate with project teams, including engineering, construction, and quality assurance, SCADA to ensure alignment on commissioning activities.
• Conduct pre-commissioning and commissioning tests, including performance testing, functional testing, and reliability testing of all communications systems.
• Ensure all commissioning activities comply with industry standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the commissioning process to ensure optimal performance of SCADA and site communications systems.
• Prepare detailed commissioning reports, documenting test results, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken.
• Continuously improve commissioning processes by incorporating feedback and lessons learned from completed projects.
• Assists site commissioning personnel in establishment of the Safety Tagging, Lockout & Work Permit Program and ensuring compliance with its provisions.
• Utility scale solar power plants testing for EPC or Utilities in the United States
• Fiber installation and testing
• Ethernet installation and testing
• Serial communications installation and testing (Modbus, DNP, etc)
• SCADA system understanding, testing, and commissioning
• Knowledgeable in NFPA/NEC standards, and IEEE/IES/API Standards.
• Familiarity with NETA and IEEE standards as related to utility scale solar generation
• Understands the commercial performance of power plants
• Familiarity with NERC guidelines and various ISO and TSO organization requirements
• Familiarity with DCS / SCADA control systems and methods for utility scale generation
• Familiarity with testing of mechanical and solid state relaying systems
