Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Renewable Energy Business Development Manager for a fully remote role focused on opportunities across South Africa. You will identify and secure solar and wind projects, develop partnerships, and drive growth through PPAs and strategic deals.

The role requires 6+ years in renewables business development, strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. Travel domestically as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field (Business, Finance, Engineering).
• MBA or equivalent is a plus.
• 6+ years in business development, sales, or commercial roles in renewables.
• Proven track record in originating and closing complex deals incl. PPAs.
• Strong understanding of SA energy market and regulatory landscape.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new renewable energy opportunities (solar PV and wind).
• Develop and execute strategic plans to grow market share and revenue.
• Build relationships with IPPs, government agencies, financiers, and off-takers.
• Negotiate and finalize PPAs and other contracts.
• Conduct market and feasibility analyses for potential projects.
• Prepare proposals and presentations to secure projects and investments.
• Collaborate with engineering and project finance teams for viability.
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and market trends.
• Manage a pipeline of opportunities and report progress.
