Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote Project Manager to lead renewable energy sourcing and development initiatives across South Africa. You will oversee feasibility studies, permitting, and early-stage development, coordinating with diverse teams to drive successful, remote executions.

The role requires 7+ years in PM, with 4+ years in renewable energy, strong stakeholder management, and knowledge of South Africa’s regulatory landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Master's degree or certifications advantageous.
• 7+ years in project management with 4+ years in renewable energy development.
• Experience with site selection, permitting, environmental assessments, and early-stage development.
• Strong knowledge of SA energy market, regulation, and financing structures.
• Excellent remote leadership, communication, and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end management of renewable energy sourcing and development initiatives.
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and resource analyses.
• Manage permitting and regulatory approvals at national, provincial, and local levels.
• Develop project plans: scope, schedules, budgets, and risk management for development.
• Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and legal advisors.
• Identify and mitigate risks in remote development, land acquisition, and compliance.
• Maintain accurate project documentation for all development stages.
• Provide regular progress reports to senior management and sponsors.
• Drive continuous improvement of remote development methodologies.
