Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior estimator with deep reinforcing-steel experience to lead takeoffs, cost development, and preconstruction processes. You will review drawings, produce reliable estimates, and work with PMs to shape bid strategy.

The role requires independent work, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior staff while building standardized estimating procedures. Remote-friendly with periodic site coordination.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of reinforcing-steel industry experience.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel.
• Detailing reinforcing steel or reviewing placing drawings.
• Experience with large concrete projects (industrial/infra).
• Strong ability to read structural drawings and specs.
• Knowledge of reinforcing-steel fabrication and field placement.
• Exposure to AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, Tekla or SDS/2.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings.
• Develop estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, labor and equipment.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion and splices.
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist in establishing final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit material, fabrication and subcontractor pricing.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation.
• Review detailing requirements and placing drawings.
• Coordinate reinforcing steel with other disciplines.
• Identify conflicts before field execution.
• Coordinate RFIs related to reinforcing steel.
• Review shop drawings for accuracy and constructability.
• Coordinate revisions and changes throughout the project.
• Work with PMs and field to resolve issues.
• Participate in turnover from estimating to project management.
• Establish project-specific production and labor assumptions.
• Develop historical cost information for future estimates.
• Compare estimated vs actual performance.
• Establish standardized estimating procedures.
• Develop estimating templates and checklists.
• Help select and implement estimating software.
• Mentor junior estimators and detailers.
• Establish quality-control for takeoffs and drawings.
• Lead the estimating/detailing function eventually.
• 7+ years reinforcing-steel experience; 10+ preferred.
• Experience with rebar fabrication or detailing.
• Familiar with large-scale industrial projects.
• Strong math and analytical skills.
• Independent worker with clear communication.
• Degree not required with substantial experience.
