Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% US remote role supporting a Federal Government client. The candidate should have 10+ years of IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography expertise and a related degree.

You will implement and test PQC algorithms, advise on migration plans, and ensure modernization aligns with NIST PQC standards while communicating risks to leadership across cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience including quantum computing and cryptography in a large org or government agency
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory
• Experience with quantum programming languages and frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, MS QDK)
• Expertise in post-quantum cryptography and quantum resistant algorithms
• Knowledge of cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790)
• Experience with classical and quantum simulation tools
• Experience with project management in a large org or government agency
• Occasional travel may be required
• U.S. Citizenship required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms
• Advise on migration plans for PQC implementations
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203, 204, 205)
