Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer to support a remote, U.S.-based federal government project. The role emphasizes implementing and testing cryptographic algorithms, advising on quantum-resistant migrations, and aligning with NIST PQC standards.

Requirements include 10+ years in IT with quantum cryptography experience, expertise in quantum algorithms and languages, and U.S.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience, 5+ years in quantum computing and cryptography at large orgs or Govt agencies
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms and information theory
• Experience with post-quantum cryptography and standards (NIST)
• Familiarity with cryptographic modernization and PQC standards (FIPS 203/204/205)
• U.S. Citizenship required for this position

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, Java
• Advise on quantum-resistant algorithm migration and PQC implementation
• Assess cryptographic inventories and identify migration priorities
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards
