Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a 100% remote U.S.-based role. The candidate will apply quantum mechanics, PQC, and cryptographic standards to modernize security posture for a federal government client.

The role requires extensive experience in quantum algorithms, cryptography, and related programming languages, with readiness for cross-functional collaboration and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography.
• Master’s degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
• Expertise in quantum algorithms (e.g., Shor’s, Grover’s) and quantum information theory.
• Experience with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and NIST PQC standards.
• Familiarity with cryptographic standards (NIST, ISO/IEC 19790) and related tools.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms.
• Advise on quantum resistant algorithm migration plans and PQC implementation strategies.
• Assess organizational cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to communicate quantum risk to leadership.
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203-205).
