Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer for a remote, full-time role focused on advancing post-quantum cryptography within a federal context.

Responsibilities include implementing cryptographic algorithms, guiding PQC migration plans, and collaborating with leadership to align modernization efforts with NIST standards. Candidates must have extensive quantum and crypto expertise and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• 10+ years IT experience with quantum computing and cryptography.
• 5+ years of quantum computing/cryptography experience at a large org or gov agency.
• Master’s degree in related IT field may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
• Experience with quantum programming languages and frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Python, C++, and Java to implement and test cryptographic algorithms.
• Advise on quantum resistant algorithm migration and PQC implementation strategies.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and identify migration priorities.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership with cross-functional teams.
• Provide policy inputs for cryptographic modernization aligned with NIST PQC standards.
