Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Quantum Computing/Cryptography Engineer to support a U.S. federal government client in a fully remote role. The position requires senior expertise and an active security clearance.

The engineer will implement cryptographic algorithms, advise on PQC migration, assess inventories, and communicate quantum risk to leadership, aligning with NIST standards. U.S. citizenship is required and a Public Trust clearance is targeted.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of IT experience with quantum computing/cryptography in large orgs or government.
• Expertise in quantum mechanics, algorithms, and information theory.
• Experience with Qiskit, Cirq, Quipper, and Microsoft QDK.
• Knowledge of NIST PQC standards and cryptographic modernization.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Implement and test cryptographic algorithms using Python, C++, and Java.
• Advise on migration plans for quantum resistant algorithms and PQC.
• Assess cryptographic inventory and prioritize migrations.
• Communicate quantum risk to non-technical leadership.
• Provide policy inputs aligned with NIST PQC standards (FIPS 203-205).
