Job summary

Ring & DuChateau Consulting Engineers is seeking a Processing Archivist to manage historical records, photographs, and digital files. You will organize, describe, and preserve collections, maintain inventories, and support researchers with access to information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, History, Information Management, Records Management, or related field.
• Previous archival processing, document management, or records administration experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to classify, describe, index, and maintain physical and digital records accurately.
• Familiarity with archival standards, metadata practices, and retention procedures.
• Proficiency with MS Office, spreadsheets, databases, and EDMS.
• Strong written communication, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Process Archival Collections: Review, organize, arrange, and describe archival collections.
• Inventory and Classification: Create and maintain inventories, finding aids, indexes, and catalog records.
• Preservation and Conservation: Identify materials needing special handling and apply preservation procedures.
• Digital Records Management: Organize, digitize, and maintain electronic records and digital assets.
• Metadata and Documentation: Develop descriptive metadata and collection summaries.
• Quality Control: Verify completeness, accuracy, and proper labeling of materials.
• Research Support: Assist researchers and authorized stakeholders in locating information.
• Confidentiality and Compliance: Follow retention policies, privacy, access restrictions, and copyright rules.
• Database Maintenance: Update archival databases and document management systems.
• Workflow Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processing, digitization, and storage.
• Reporting: Prepare processing reports and collection statistics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with records managers, IT, librarians, and teams.
