Job summary

Ring & DuChateau Consulting Engineers seeks a detail-oriented Processing Archivist to manage and preserve historical records, photographs, and digital assets. You will organize materials, maintain inventories, and ensure adherence to archival standards while supporting researchers and internal teams.

The role emphasizes classification, metadata creation, and metadata quality, with collaboration across records management, IT, librarians, historians, and departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, History, Information Management, Records Management, or related field.
• Experience in archival processing, document management, or records administration preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to classify, describe, index, and maintain physical and digital records accurately.
• Familiarity with archival standards, metadata practices, and records retention procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and EDRMS.
• Strong written communication, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process Archival Collections: review, organize, describe collections per standards.
• Inventory and Classification: create inventories, finding aids, indexes, catalog records.
• Preservation and Conservation: identify materials needing special handling and preserve them.
• Digital Records Management: digitize and maintain electronic records and assets.
• Metadata and Documentation: develop descriptive metadata and collection summaries.
• Quality Control: verify completeness and labeling of materials.
• Research Support: assist researchers and stakeholders in locating information.
• Confidentiality and Compliance: follow retention policies and privacy requirements.
• Database Maintenance: update archival databases and tracking systems.
• Workflow Improvement: identify opportunities to improve processing and digitization workflows.
• Reporting: prepare processing reports and statistics.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with records managers, IT, librarians, historians.
