Job summary

Ring & DuChateau Consulting Engineers seeks a Processing Archivist to manage historical records, organize and describe materials, and ensure preservation to archival standards. You will work with researchers and internal teams to enable efficient access and long-term memory.

The ideal candidate has a degree in library science or related field, strong organizational skills, and experience with metadata, classification, and digitization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Archival Studies, History, Information Management, Records Management, or a related field.
• Experience in archival processing, document management, records administration, library services, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to classify, describe, index, and maintain physical and digital records accurately.
• Familiarity with archival standards, metadata practices, records retention procedures, and preservation principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic document management systems.
• Strong written communication, research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain consistent documentation.
• Demonstrated commitment to confidentiality, data integrity, and responsible information handling.

Responsibilities

• Process archival collections in accordance with procedures and standards.
• Create and maintain inventories, finding aids, and catalog records.
• Identify materials requiring special handling and apply preservation procedures.
• Organize, classify, digitize, and maintain electronic records.
• Develop descriptive metadata and collection summaries.
• Verify completeness, accuracy, and labeling of materials.
• Assist researchers and stakeholders in locating information.
• Follow retention policies, privacy requirements, and access controls.
• Update archival databases and tracking spreadsheets.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and digitization processes.
• Prepare processing reports and collection statistics.
• Collaborate with records managers, IT, librarians, historians, and teams.
