Job summary

GFT is seeking an experienced Principal Substation Engineer to lead or support utility and power substation projects. The role covers 34.5kV to 500kV and involves building relationships with clients in the Power & Utility sector.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, a PE license, and 15+ years of relevant experience. Hybrid work is available; remote options may be considered for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer License required.
• 15+ years progressive experience in design, engineering and project management in power/utility.
• Experience in consulting engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop substation layouts, plan/elevations, cables, and material lists for new/existing substations.
• Develop single-line diagrams, SCADA, relaying, and DC/AC power systems.
• Prepare calculations, reports, and equipment specifications for substation projects.
• Manage technical, financial, and scheduling aspects of projects.
• May act as project/client/capture manager.
• Mentor engineers and staff; build client relationships across offices.
• Contribute to proposals, bids, and presentations.
