Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Principal Fire Protection Engineer to lead fire and life-safety systems for utility-scale energy storage and power projects. You will set standards, guide design, and coordinate with AHJs and insurers while supporting delivery from concept to commissioning.

The role is fully remote with travel up to 25% to attend in-person meetings and project sites. A PE license is preferred and a strong background in NFPA/IBC and UL standards is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
• PE license in Fire Protection Engineering is preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of fire protection engineering experience, with at least 2 years in energy infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert guidance on fire safety challenges and risk mitigation.
• Develop company-wide engineering standards, design criteria, and best practices.
• Lead national fire protection code committees and interface with AHJs, insurers, and engineers.
• Oversee project fire protection for energy storage systems, including basis-of-design and vendor evaluations.
• Manage and QA/QC 3rd party EORs, budgets, and schedules, ensuring project requirements are met.
• Collaborate with electrical/SCADA teams to ensure design consistency and constructability.
• Support testing and commissioning of fire protection systems.
