Job summary

Kin Insurance seeks a Pricing & Risk Analyst to help grow profitability state by state. This entry-level role supports the Pricing and Risk Management team with data-driven insights using Databricks Genie, Claude Code, and MCP-enabled workflows.

You'll work with state managers to translate policy, quote, and claims data into actionable recommendations, learn insurance metrics and pricing, and contribute to growth opportunities across geography and distribution channels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, computer science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Foundational SQL and proficiency with Excel or similar tools are required.
• Experience analyzing data to identify patterns, investigate questions, and explain findings.
• Hands‑on experience using AI for analytical or coding tasks and willingness to use Claude Code, Databricks Genie, and MCP-enabled workflows.
• Attention to detail and ability to question and verify AI-generated results before relying on them.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring state performance reporting on quote volume, quote-to-bind conversion, new business, premium, retention, and loss experience.
• Analyze performance across geography, risk characteristics, coverage, and distribution channels to surface growth opportunities.
• Evaluate how proposed rate changes, underwriting rules, and shifts in business mix could affect growth.
• Build and maintain competitive research informing state comparisons and pricing/product opportunities.
• Use Databricks Genie to explore data and Claude Code to write SQL queries and automation scripts.
• Bring data and business context into analytical workflows through MCP connections.
• Validate data, calculations, and AI outputs; document sources and assumptions.
• Deliver clear charts and concise summaries for Pricing and Risk and partner teams.
• Measure performance after pricing, underwriting, and product changes go live.
