Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use engineering for electric distribution projects. The role focuses on applying NESC clearances, evaluating pole conditions, and developing construction-ready designs from field data and standards.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in make-ready or distribution design, familiarity with CAD/MicroStation, and experience with DDS, Katapult, or O-Calc.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years preferred).
• Proven utility pole design experience including NESC application, clearance analysis, and construction-ready packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc or similar platforms preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, active auto insurance, and ability to pass background/MVR screenings.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements, transfers, and attachments.
• Apply NESC requirements, construction standards, and client design criteria.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and joint-use design and support related design work.
• Conduct permitting and easement research (ownership, ROW, approvals).
• Collaborate to resolve design conflicts and field-data discrepancies.
• Utilize DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS and related systems.
• Perform quality-control reviews and support additional project tasks.
