Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use projects for electric distribution and telecom utilities. This remote role focuses on evaluating pole data, applying NESC clearances, and developing construction-ready designs, with familiarity in DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering or joint-use, 3+ years preferred.
• Experience in utility pole design, NESC application, and construction-ready packages.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; DDS, Katapult, O-Calc experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and ability to pass background checks.
• Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to meet quality, schedule, and budget.
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole transfers and guying.
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria to projects.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready and support related overhead distribution design.
• Conduct permitting and easement research on ownership, ROW, and approvals.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design conflicts and data discrepancies.
• Use DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and system tools.
• Perform quality-control reviews and support additional duties.
