Job summary

Sigma Technologies is hiring Make Ready Designers to support overhead pole design and joint-use projects for electric utilities. The role focuses on applying NESC clearances, evaluating pole conditions, and delivering construction-ready packages. Experience with pole loading and design platforms is highly valued.

Remote opportunity in the U.S. with occasional travel, requires knowledge of DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of a high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• At least 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use, or electric power distribution design; 3+ years preferred.
• Proven experience with utility pole design, NESC application, and construction-ready packages.
• CAD or MicroStation proficiency; familiarity with DDS/Katapult or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders meeting quality and schedule targets.
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and existing conditions.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs and perform pole transfers, guying, anchoring, etc.
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria; support end-to-end design and permitting research.
• Collaborate to resolve design conflicts and constructability concerns; support QA reviews.
