Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking an experienced Make Ready Designer to support overhead pole design and joint-use engineering for electric distribution. The role emphasizes make-ready work, NESC clearances, pole loading, and construction-ready design packages.

Experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD, and related systems is highly valued. This remote opportunity requires potential travel and a commitment to Eastern Time scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma; associate or higher preferred in engineering/drafting.
• 2 years of make-ready, joint-use, or electric power distribution design experience (3+ years preferred).
• Strong pole design, NESC, and construction-ready design package experience.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS/Katapult/O-Calc is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Execute make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to quality, on schedule and budget.
• Review field data, pole information, attachments, and conditions to inform designs.
• Evaluate joint-use, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole transfers and attachments.
• Apply NESC rules and client design criteria; ensure design quality through QC reviews.
• Conduct permitting and easement research; resolve design conflicts with teams.
• Utilize DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
