Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking experienced Make Ready Designers to support overhead pole design, joint-use engineering, and electric distribution projects. This remote opportunity focuses on make-ready design, evaluating pole conditions, applying NESC clearances, and developing construction-ready design packages for utilities.

Applicants should have 2+ years in make-ready or electric distribution design, CAD/MicroStation proficiency, and the ability to work Eastern Time hours.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in make-ready engineering, joint-use design, or electric power distribution design (3+ years preferred).
• Experience in utility pole design with NESC application and clearance analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; experience with DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar platforms is preferred.
• Authorization to work in the United States and valid driver's license; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Complete make-ready and overhead pole design work orders to quality, schedule, and budget expectations.
• Review field collection and walkout data, pole information, and attachment details.
• Evaluate joint-use attachments, NESC clearances, pole loading, and required modifications.
• Develop construction-ready make-ready designs including pole replacements, transfers, and attachments.
• Apply NESC requirements and client design criteria; ensure constructability.
• Perform end-to-end make-ready design and support related overhead distribution design as needed.
• Conduct permitting and easement research including pole ownership and rights-of-way.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design conflicts and field-data discrepancies.
• Utilize DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, and related systems.
• Provide quality-control reviews and support additional project responsibilities as assigned.
