Job summary

Paddle is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer to drive reliability across the Paddle platform. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to build scalable, observable systems and automate deployment and recovery workflows.

The role emphasizes production readiness, incident handling, and cost-optimization across AWS services, with opportunities to explore AI-assisted tooling in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• Significant software development background with production services experience.
• Experience shipping and operating production systems; strong testing, code review, CI/CD, and debugging fundamentals.
• Comfort working across AWS ecosystem with Solution Architects and SME guidance.
• Interest in AI and how it reshapes software development.
• Collaborative, security-minded, detail-oriented; thrives in fast-paced environments.
• Knowledge of platform and ops concepts like networking and Linux administration.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems at scale.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools: OpenTelemetry, Honeycomb, Grafana, Pingdom, Incident.io.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain tooling to maximize engineering efficiency, including deployment infrastructure and DB upgrades.
• Automate processes and improve Developer Experience across teams.
• Design, test, and automate disaster recovery processes.
• Leverage AI tools with safe guardrails for day-to-day tasks (code gen, investigation, automation, docs).
• Handle production incidents; write blameless postmortems and update runbooks.
• Monitor, alert, and track SLOs with hands-on SRE work beyond traditional monitoring.
• Lead cost optimization: right-sizing, autoscaling, scheduling, storage tiering across ECS/Fargate, RDS/Aurora, SQS.
• Champion GitOps practices and drive standardization across services.
