Job summary

Shippo is seeking an SRE Manager to lead a team building platforms, tooling, and infrastructure enabling product teams to operate reliably, performantly, and scalably. You will establish observability, deployment automation, and IaC foundations while driving automation and engineering productivity across the org.

You will mentor engineers, own the Kubernetes platform, and define SLOs/SLIs with a focus on self-service and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on engineering management experience.
• 9+ years as a software or systems engineer building platforms and tooling.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Expert-level experience designing and operating platforms that enable other engineering teams.
• Strong operational experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
• Deep expertise with at least one public cloud provider (AWS, GCP).
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD systems and deployment automation.
• Strong background in infrastructure-as-code tools and patterns (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
• Experience designing observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python or Go for tooling and automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of platform-focused SRE engineers with mentorship and career development.
• Build and maintain internal platforms and tooling for reliable deployments.
• Manage observability platforms (metrics, logs, traces, dashboards).
• Own the Kubernetes platform and ensure scalable capacity planning.
• Implement SLOs/SLIs, error budgets, and reliability metrics adoption.
• Design CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for safe releases.
• Develop infrastructure-as-code foundations and self-service capabilities.
• Drive cost optimization and disaster recovery planning.
• Coordinate with managers to align platform investments with product needs.
