Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to strengthen our platform reliability and incident resilience. You will own quarterly goals, lead engineers, and partner with infrastructure, product management, developer experience, and analytics to deliver reliable services.

Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Python, and Bash is essential, as is a track record in running highly available distributed systems and a strong focus on observability and incident response.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Bash, Python or Kotlin.
• Experience building highly available distributed systems with AWS and Kubernetes.
• Proven track record contributing to Incident Lifecycle processes and post-incident analysis.
• 4+ years in a Site Reliability or Production Engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team and guide engineers through ambiguity.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, product management, and analytics in the lifecycle of product development.
• Identify technical solutions to strengthen incident readiness, response, and post-incident analysis.
• Support operations and availability of team artifacts by monitoring metrics and on-call duties.
• Help set code review and design standards and advocate for them beyond your team.
• Mentor teammates and lead by example.
• On-Call Rotation is a requirement.
