Job summary

Mercy is seeking a physician-based coder to review medical records and assign diagnoses, procedures, and charge codes for inpatient, outpatient, and professional services. This remote role requires extensive ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS experience and adherence to coding guidelines.

Qualifications

• AS in Nursing or Health Information Management or related healthcare discipline or commensurate clinical experience.
• 6+ years of coding/charging experience in ICD-10-CM/PCS and/or CPT/HCPCS in acute care or professional services.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy & physiology, MS-DRG/APC/MPFS RVU methodologies.
• Familiarity with coding certifications (RN, RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CIRCC).

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze documentation to assign diagnoses, procedures, and charge codes.
• Collaborate with clinical teams for accurate coding across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Adhere to official coding guidelines and ethical standards.
