Job summary

SmithRx is seeking a Pharmacy Technician contractor to support members, providers, and pharmacies in navigating prescriptions for timely coverage and clinically appropriate therapy. You will verify coverage, assist with prior authorizations, and triage inquiries within established protocols to support cost-effective medication access.

This remote contract role requires an active Pharmacy Technician license, 2–4 years of experience, and proficiency with Mac, MS Office, and G-Suite.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Active Pharmacy Technician license required.
• 2-4 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician preferred.
• Experience with prior authorization review in PBM/health plan helpful.

Responsibilities

• Verify eligibility and drug coverage under the plan to determine claims processing.
• Triage clinical review for prior authorization requests per established protocols.
• Review prior authorization requests using criteria, history, and plan rules; outreach to prescribers/pharmacies.
• Organize and prioritize multiple requests to ensure timely authorization case management.
• Build and adjust authorizations within the adjudication system.
• Navigate drug products and formulations; perform basic calculations for accurate adjudication.
