Job summary

Supabase is building a Postgres development platform and is hiring experienced performance engineers to drive measurable improvements across the stack. You’ll join a new performance team as one of the first members, shaping how performance engineering works at Supabase.

You’ll partner with database and infra teams, develop tooling, and ensure performance signals are captured and acted upon. This role is fully remote, globally distributed, and offers ESOP and professional development.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in performance engineering for complex distributed systems.
• Ability to follow a tail-latency problem from app to kernel boundary and across networks.
• Knowledge of Linux internals or database internals (planning/storage/buffer).
• Strong understanding of networking and cloud infrastructure performance (AWS/EBS, cross-AZ latency).

Responsibilities

• Find bottlenecks in live production systems and clearly document actionable fixes for owning teams.
• Partner with database and infra teams to land concrete performance improvements.
• Develop and evolve performance methodologies and tooling from production data.
• Collaborate with observability to capture signals and create a unified performance view.
• Enable teams to self-serve performance analysis and elevate performance as a core engineering concern.
