Job summary

Supabase is seeking an experienced Database Support Engineer to join our Support Team. You will help developers unblock complex issues, optimize workloads, and improve product quality across a broad database stack in a fully remote setting.

You will work with Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, and Edge Functions, collaborating with engineering to reproduce bugs and propose sustainable workarounds while mentoring fellow teammates.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in technical support, databases, or backend engineering.
• Deep PostgreSQL knowledge including autovacuum, WAL, long-running transactions.
• Strong SQL performance and query optimization skills.
• Experience troubleshooting multi-tenant schemas and distributed systems.
• Familiarity with AWS and Linux/Unix environments.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and resolve advanced customer issues across Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions, and client libraries.
• Offer proactive guidance to optimize workloads and provide tailored advice to advanced users.
• Reproduce bugs, isolate root causes, propose workarounds, and escalate to engineering with solid steps.
• Ask smart, targeted questions to turn reports into actionable cases.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with users at all levels, especially during high-impact situations.
• Spot patterns across tickets and recommend product/documentation/tooling improvements.
• Mentor junior team members and help raise the overall bar for support quality.
