FastSpring is hiring a Payment Operations Specialist, Technical Operations to support daily payment workflows across multiple processors and regions. The role combines hands-on investigation of chargebacks and disputes with analytics on authorization rates, costs, and reconciliation.

The position is entry-to-early-career, with opportunities to own analysis in one area and to grow into payments analytics or risk and fraud.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in payment operations, chargebacks, risk, finance, ecommerce operations, or related field.
• Basic understanding of card payments, processors, PayPal, refunds, disputes, or chargeback lifecycle.
• Comfort with data, dashboards, spreadsheets, and exporting reports.
• Curiosity to understand numbers, attention to detail, and accountability.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks across systems.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to document work for others.
• Willingness to work a schedule that includes weekends with two weekdays off.
• Familiarity with BI tools (Looker/Tableau/Power BI) preferred.
• Exposure to SQL, Python, APIs, or observability tools; eagerness to learn.
• Experience using AI tools to assist with documentation and data cleanup.

Responsibilities

• Support chargeback and PayPal dispute workflows with evidence gathering and coordination.
• Monitor dispute metrics and fraud indicators by seller, processor, and region.
• Investigate payment inquiries across authorizations, declines, settlements, refunds, and disputes.
• Track authorization rates and declines, breaking down by code and category to find losses.
• Normalize payment data across sources and run routine data-quality checks.
• Track payments costs by processor and region and flag discrepancies in invoices.
• Contribute to daily/monthly reconciliation and to SOPs for payment performance and trends.
