Job summary

Discord is seeking a Payments & Fraud Analyst in the San Francisco Bay Area to own end-to-end fraud and payments initiatives. You will lead high-scale investigations, optimize chargeback strategies, and partner with Engineering, Legal, Product, and Revenue to ensure clean revenue and successful launches.

You will write SQL queries, build dashboards with Mode and Datadog, and mentor teammates while communicating impact to senior stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of experience in payments, fraud, or risk operations.
• Hands-on exposure to card network rules and chargebacks.
• Proficiency in SQL for analyzing large datasets to drive fraud and payments decisions.
• Experience building reporting and monitoring workflows using BI and alerting tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication to translate technical findings into business impact.
• Experience mentoring others or serving as a technical resource on a team.

Responsibilities

• Own high-scale fraud detection and mitigation, payments operations, and risk assessment end-to-end.
• Lead complex fraud investigations and propose rule improvements and cross-functional actions.
• Write SQL queries and build dashboards/alerts (Mode, Datadog) for monitoring performance.
• Program manage cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, Legal, Product, Revenue.
• Contribute to risk assessments for new product launches and mitigate exposure.
• Communicate business impact to stakeholders pre, during, and post-launch.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the team.
