Job summary

The 61st Street Service Corporation provides administrative and clinical support for ColumbiaDoctors, a large Northeast multi-specialty practice. This position supports ColumbiaDoctors, handling scheduling, insurance verification, and patient access with a focus on service, trust, empathy, safety, inclusion, and communication.

As a Patient Services Specialist I, you will be part of a pod that handles high volumes of inquiries and supports the Call Center Career Ladder.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent required.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience including proficiency in medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service and problem assessment skills.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) or similar software is required and an ability and willingness to learn new systems and programs.
• Prior high volume customer service experience in a call center environment is preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointment requests.
• Communicate insurance participation, financial responsibility and time of service policy.
• Obtain patients’ insurance/demographic information and register in EPIC.
• Perform real-time insurance verification and interprets responses. Escalates cases for resolution as appropriate.
• Participate in team discussions about complex patient scheduling needs.
• Address outstanding Epic work queue accounts.
• Schedule Epic referral.
• General faxing, filing, and mail sorting.
• Provide support and back-up coverage as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
