Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Patient Financial Advocate to assist patients in Florida with financial responsibilities related to healthcare services. Responsibilities include explaining costs, obtaining deposits, coordinating with clinic operations, and guiding patients through government assistance options and financial aid programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience in a high-volume customer service telephone or direct contact healthcare environment.
• In-depth knowledge of patient accounts including collections, insurance regulations and reimbursement techniques.
• Knowledge of third-party payers, Medicare, physician billing and pricing.
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD coding requirements and the utilization and applications of both manuals' insurance verification.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient financial counseling and resolve patient account disputes and balances.
• Act as liaison between PFS and clinic operations to resolve billing inquiries and ensure patient satisfaction.
• Communicate with departments to resolve issues and document resolutions.
• Track and document patient issues and ensure resolution within 24 hours.
• Answer incoming calls timely and log interactions in tracking system; assist walk-in customers as needed.
• Assist with account corrections, adjustments, refunds, transfers and charge reversals per policy.
• Prepare adjustments and corrections in SIGNATURE and process payments per policy.
• Establish payment plans with patients and collect balances per PFS procedures.
• Identify eligibility for charity care and Cleveland Clinic Financial Assistance Programs within one billing cycle.
