Job summary

Duke Health's Patient Revenue Management Organization is seeking a detail-oriented billing specialist to accurately process patient accounts and manage insurance workflows.

You'll analyze insurance coverage, obtain authorizations, and explain bills while supporting patients through financial counseling and payment options. Remote work is available; typical hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm.

Qualifications

• High school education; some postsecondary education preferred.
• 2 years in hospital service access, clinical service access, or billing/collections.
• Associate’s degree with 1 year experience or bachelor’s degree with 1 year experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze insurance coverage and benefits for timely reimbursement.
• Obtain prior authorizations as appropriate.
• Explain bills according to PRMO credit and collection policies.
• Update billing systems and assist financially responsible persons in arranging payment.
