Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Financial Care Counselor to support the Patient Revenue Management Office in maintaining accurate patient accounts, pre-admission, pre-registration, and registration processes.

You will verify insurance coverage, inform patients of financial responsibility, arrange payment options, and assist with government funding where appropriate. This role emphasizes accuracy, communication, and collaboration within a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Two years experience in hospital service access, clinical service access, physician office or billing and collections.
• Associate's degree in healthcare and one year of experience.
• Bachelor's degree and one year of experience working with the public.

Responsibilities

• Accurately complete patient accounts based on departmental protocol, policies and procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Verify insurance requirements and inform patients of financial liability prior to services.
• Arrange payment options and screen patients for government funding sources.
• Resolve insurance claim rejections/denials and maintain billing records.
• Compile departmental statistics for budgetary and reporting purposes.
