Job summary

Sterlington PLLC is seeking a Patent Attorney to lead drafting and prosecution of patent applications in cellular and wireless spaces. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and opportunities on sophisticated portfolios.

Ideal candidates have strong drafting/prosecution skills, deep technical judgment, and can translate complex tech into defensible claims. Remote, full-time position supporting U.S. clients.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school; transcript required.
• Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Approximately 2–5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience with cellular and wireless technologies (3GPP standards, LTE, 5G, 6G, RF systems, etc.) preferred.
• Excellent patent drafting and technical writing skills.
• Strong academic credentials and ability to manage matters independently with oversight.
• Must be based in the United States to support client requirements.
• Experience using AI-enabled legal tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving wireless communications, cellular technologies, networking, signal processing, and related technologies.
• Coordinate foreign patent prosecution and work with international counsel on global patent portfolios.
• Prepare responses to Office Actions and manage deadlines across an active patent prosecution docket.
• Work directly with inventors and in-house counsel to understand new technologies and develop appropriate patent protection.
• Collaborate with partners and other practitioners on patent strategy, portfolio development, and client counseling.
• Analyze technically complex disclosures, standards, and prior art and translate them into effective patent prosecution strategies.
• Manage matters with a high degree of independence while maintaining high standards for work.
