Job summary

Sterlington PLLC, a full-service law firm, is seeking a Patent Attorney to prepare and prosecute patent applications in cellular and wireless spaces. The role offers significant responsibility, direct client interaction, and work on sophisticated portfolios.

You will draft and prosecute U.S. applications, coordinate foreign prosecution, communicate with inventors and in-house counsel, and contribute to strategy while maintaining high technical and legal standards.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; transcript required.
• Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical discipline.
• Approximately 2–5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience with cellular and wireless technologies (3GPP, LTE, 5G, 6G, RF, etc.).
• Excellent patent drafting and technical writing skills.
• Must be based in the United States.
• Experience with AI-enabled legal tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving wireless communications and related technologies.
• Coordinate foreign patent prosecution with international counsel.
• Prepare responses to Office Actions and manage deadlines on active docket.
• Work with inventors and in-house counsel to understand new technologies and develop patent protection.
• Collaborate with partners on patent strategy and client counseling.
• Translate complex disclosures into effective prosecution strategies.
• Manage matters with independence while upholding high technical and legal standards.
