Job summary

SMX is seeking a people-oriented, detail-driven Junior Project Analyst to support TARs and RIPs on a distributed program. This remote, part-time role (<24 hours/week) coordinates with portfolio leadership, subcontractors, and government representatives to ensure accurate tracking and documentation in line with contract requirements.

You will maintain trackers, assist with reporting, and help the team follow standardized processes and policies. A high school diploma plus 2+ years in admin/project support is typical, with pursuit of a business degree encouraged.

Qualifications

• Clear, concise written and verbal communication suitable for coordination with diverse teams and government clients.
• Experience coordinating requests, approvals, and follow-up actions in administrative or project support roles.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining accuracy and timelines.

Responsibilities

• TAR (Travel Authorization Request) Support: Initiate, track, and maintain TARs in accordance with contract and company policies.
• Coordinate with project staff, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather required travel details.
• Communicate travel approval status, policy constraints, and next steps clearly and professionally.
• RIP (Request to Initiate Purchase) Support: Prepare and submit RIPs for labor, materials, or services.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and internal procurement teams to ensure requests are complete and compliant.
• Track RIP status through approval and execution, following up to resolution.
• Project & Administrative Support: Maintain trackers, logs, and shared documentation repositories.
• Capture action items, deadlines, and follow-ups from meetings and communications.
• Support weekly and monthly reporting with accurate, well-organized inputs.
• Process Adherence & Improvement: Apply standardized checklists, templates, and workflows consistently.
• Identify recurring issues or points of confusion and elevate them to the Portfolio Lead.
• Support continuous improvement by helping stakeholders understand and follow established processes.
