Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Coding Specialist to assign CPT/ICD-10 codes for outpatient interventional radiology services. The role requires AHIMA/AAPC credentialing and 2+ years of IR coding experience, with proficiency in EMR systems and Excel.

You will maintain coding quality, handle chart reviews, and provide feedback to providers while adhering to ethical standards. Remote-friendly, with some overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED.
• AHIMA/AAPC coding certification (CCA/CCS/RHIA/RHIT/CPC-H/COC/CIC/CCS-P/CPC/CPC-A) to be maintained annually.
• 2+ years of outpatient facility interventional radiology coding experience.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• Ability to use a PC in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel and EMR systems.
• Ability to work 40 hours a week with potential overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify appropriate assignment of CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient Acute Interventional Radiology services according to guidelines.
• Apply coding knowledge to analyze/correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits.
• Understand Medicare APC codes.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review when coding.
• Adhere to ethical coding standards per AHIMA/AAPC and company policy.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity as required by management.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Keep up-to-date coding knowledge from QM Manager and Directors.
