Job summary

Optum is seeking a skilled Medical Coder specialized in outpatient Interventional Radiology to join our remote-friendly coding team. You will assign CPT/ICD-10 codes, review charts, and ensure compliance with AHIMA/AAPC guidelines, while maintaining accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AHIMA and/or AAPC credentialing (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A) maintained annually.
• 2+ years of Outpatient Facility Interventional Radiology coding experience.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• Proficiency in Windows and Excel; familiarity with EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Identify CPT/ICD-10 coding for outpatient Acute Interventional Radiology services.
• Apply coding knowledge to correct CCI and Medical Necessity edits.
• Understand APC codes and related guidelines.
• Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
• Maintain coding quality and productivity per Optum standards.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when appropriate.
• Stay up-to-date with coding knowledge from QM Manager/Directors and attend meetings.
