Job summary

e4health is hiring an Outpatient Coder for a fully remote US-based position. You will code outpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines, with strict adherence to CMS directives and AMA CPT standards.

The role emphasizes accuracy, productivity, and collaboration with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Revenue Cycle teams. Qualified candidates will hold an AHIMA or AAPC credential and have 2+ years of US coding experience, including diverse specialties.

Qualifications

• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers to facility accounts per workflow (outpatient, ancillary, ED, observation, and/or outpatient surgery).
• Abstract and enter coded data and charges for hospital statistics and reporting requirements.
• Query physicians to clarify conflicting, imprecise, incomplete, ambiguous, or inconsistent information when appropriate.
• Communicate documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow-up and resolution.
• Coordinate with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Revenue Cycle teams for follow-up and reconciliation.
• Maintain required productivity and quality requirements.
• Maintain coding credential requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS codes and modifiers to facility-based Accounts as per designated workflow.
• Abstracts and enters coded data and/or charges for hospital statistics and reporting requirements.
• Queries physicians to clarify conflicting or incomplete information.
• Communicates documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues to appropriate personnel for follow up and resolution.
• Works with Clinical Documentation Improvement and Revenue Cycle teams for follow up and reconciliation.
• Maintains productivity and quality targets.
• Keeps coding credentials current.
